Military Efficiency Medal conferred on US Embassy security cooperation head

Last week, Chief of Defence Staff of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Brigadier Omar Khan decorated Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) John Oeffinger, Head of the US Embassy Security Cooperation  with the GDF Military Efficiency Medal (MEM).

The MEM is the third highest military medal, and its conferral was authorized by President and Commander in Chief, Irfaan Ali, to Lt Col Oeffinger for his exceptional work in expanding and strengthening military cooperation between the armed forces of the United States and Guyana.

A release from the GDF said that the medal and citation were presented to Lt Col Oeffinger during a ceremony at the Officers’ Mess, Base Camp Ayanganna.

In brief remarks, Khan expressed his gratitude for and reflected on the numerous bilateral cooperation and support engagements spearheaded by Lt Col Oeffinger during his service in the appointment.
