Dimitri Cheong and Allure Thompson were among the standout performers following victories in their respective divisions when the Guyana Karate Federation Senior Championship concluded at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue.
Cheong won the Male 14-17 Kata, relegating Judge Thompson and Jeremy Hargobin to second and third place, respectively. Cheong also prevailed in the Male 14-17 – Kumite – 68Kg section, besting Thompson once more.
In identical fashion, Allure prevailed in the Female Senior Kata division, defeating Alisha Moideen and Keyshia Beaton, who finished second and third, respectively. Allure then prevailed in the Kumite segment, with Beaton and Moideen finishing in second and third apiece.
Meanwhile, the Berbice Shotokan Dojo won the Male Senior Team Kata division, besting Association Do Shotokan Guyana. Similarly, the Guyana Wado-Ryu Association triumphed in the Male Senior Team Kumite category, with the Association Do Shotokan Guyana and Berbice Shotokan Dojo rounding out the top three in that order.
In other results, Isabella Ramlall won the Female 14-17 – Kata segment, with Annamary Holder securing second place. Also, Tattieanna Appiah clinched the Female 14-17 – Kumite title, relegating Ramlall and Holder to second and third place, respectively.
In the Male 14-17 – Kumite – 55Kg, Hargobin clinched the top spot, while Phillip Persaud ended in second place.
