A mother and her reputed husband were yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Tamieka Clarke after they appeared in the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on charges relating to the sexual abuse of the woman’s young daughter.
The mother was charged with ill treatment and neglect of her daughter contrary to Section 92 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law Offences Act Chapter, 8:01. Her reputed husband was charged with sexual activity with child family member contrary to Section 16 (3) (a) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 8:03.
The charges stemmed from alleged repeated rape of the woman’s child and her refusal to act in the child’s best interest even thought she was informed of the abuse.
The two will return to court on October 23rd.
