According to reports, the body of 47-year-old Theodore Baynes, also known as ‘Silver’, was discovered on Monday, outside his home at Lot 40 Haslington North, East Coast Demerara. Baynes, a carpenter and father of one, was found with severe injuries, including a crushed face, a deep wound to his neck, and multiple cuts across his back and other parts of his body.

Latha Solomon, a cousin of Baynes, told Stabroek News that on Monday, at around 9:30 am, she and other family members were informed that police officers were at the yard where Baynes lived. Upon arrival, she was met by three plainclothes CID officers and one uniformed officer guarding the gate.

After identifying herself as Baynes’ cousin, the officers allowed her to briefly see him, but she was informed that the area was being processed as a murder scene. Solomon also revealed that police have made an arrest in connection with the incident and are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of death.

The family declined to make any further comment.
