Sabrina Bethune, a mother of three, was further remanded pending trial in the High Court when she appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
She was charged with attempted murder when she appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan on September 22, 2022, at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
A tearful Bethune stood to hear whether she would be granted bail but the prosecutor objected once again citing issues locating Bethune the last time she was let out on bail.
Magistrate McGusty then told Bethune that she was not inclined to grant bail since she [Bethune] consistently attempted to evade the police, and lied to officers about settling the matter and therefore she will remain remanded until her High Court trial begins.
Upon hearing this, Bethune flung herself on the floor and cried out that she has lived in abuse for many years, resisting the officer who attempted to take her back to the holding area.
According to police, Bethune had armed herself with a piece of wood and dealt Linden Davidson a blow to his hand while he was standing on Evans Street, Charlestown, Georgetown. Davidson then reported the matter to the police and as he returned home, Bethune further armed herself with a glass bottle, walked up behind the man, and dealt him another blow to his head with it. In 2022 the court heard that the bottle broke, which led to Bethune using it to inflict a stab wound to the man’s neck.
