Nigel Abrams, also known as Nigel Abrahams, appeared yesterday before Justice Peter Hugh at the High Court in Demerara, where he pleaded guilty to the charge of attempted murder.
The incident, which took place between April 17 and 18, 2022, involved Abrams wounding Ron Moonsammy with intent to murder him.
Following the guilty plea, the judge ordered the submission of a probation report, along with all agreed-upon facts and statements outlining mitigating and aggravating factors. These are to be presented at the next hearing, which is also scheduled for sentencing.
Previous reports indicate that Abrams was arrested days after he allegedly killed his foster son, Daniel Wilson, and critically injured Moonsammy. Police apprehended Abrams in Region One, with assistance from local residents and the Community Policing Group.
According to the Guyana Police Force’s Corporate Communications Unit, the attacks occurred following an argument among Abrams, Wilson, and Moonsammy while the group was consuming alcohol in Black Water, North West District. Abrams allegedly stabbed Wilson, leading Moonsammy to intervene. Abrams then reportedly turned on Moonsammy, stabbing him in the chest. Moonsammy was transported to the Mabaruma Public Hospital and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment.
