Police still probing assault allegation against `Guyanese Critic’

The police are still probing an assault allegation against Mikhail Rodrigues, widely known as the `Guyanese Critic’ following an incident over the weekend at Montra Lounge and Bar

Rodrigues has been accused of attacking Brian Persaud with a firearm. Rodrigues has denied the allegations and claimed that Persaud struck him with a beer bottle.

In an interview with Stabroek News,  Persaud refuted claims made by Rodrigues during his show, “Morning Live with The Critic Live Show,” labeling them as false.

Persaud said that Rodrigues mistook him for someone else during the incident on Sunday night. “Everything Critic said on his show was a lie, so I need to speak up and I will not be dropping the case,” he stated. According to Persaud, an altercation began after a woman near them started recording Rodrigues, who then attempted to film her in response. The situation escalated quickly, with Persaud claiming Rodrigues struck him in the face with a firearm. “I still have the marks on my face,” he said. Persaud said he wasn’t aware Rodrigues was hit in his head when he was hit in his face. He said he only found out about it later.

When questioned about whether he had struck Rodrigues with a bottle, Persaud denied it and stated that after being hit, he fled the nightclub, only to be chased by Rodrigues and others.

Following the incident, both parties reported to police, with investigations underway. Persaud stated that both he and Rodrigues were placed on station bail, and he intends to press charges.
