GH Renovations T20 Cricket
McGill Superstars, Belle Vue, and Windsor Forest Centre clinched comfortable wins victories when the West Demerara Cricket Association sanctioned GH Renovations T20 Championship continued.
McGill Superstars stunned the highly touted Cornelia Ida (CI) by 149 runs. Batting first. McGill Super Stars amassed an enormous 252/7 in their 20 over allocation. Former national U-19 batsman Ronald Ranee smashed his way to 120, which was highlighted by 10 maximums and seven boundaries.
He was supported by former Guyana first-class batsman Ricardo Adams, who tallied 52 [3x4s, 5x6s], while Kevon Boodie chipped in with 30. Adding 16 was Travis Persaud. In terms of the bowlers, Akshay Persaud registered figures of 3-45 during his allotment.
In response, the CI unit was bundled out for 103 in 15.3 overs. Aryan Persaud top scored with a fighting 24 [2x4s, 1×6], while Avishkar Ramgobin tallied 20 [2x4s, 1×6]. Adding 17 [3x4s] was Shafeek Deonarine.
Abdul Razack led the bowling effort with 2-11 in three overs, while Daniel Basdeo snared 2-20, Ricardo Adams recorded 2-23, and Sudesh Persaud tallied 2-25.
Similarly, Belle Vue bested the Windsor Forest Vipers by a mammoth 127 runs. Batting first, Belle Vue amassed an imposing 205/6 in their 20 overs. Dyal Rajpat led the scoring with 61 [6x4s, 5x6s], while Ryan Seecharran fell four runs of a half-century with 46 [3x4s, 3x6s].
Kevin Plant was also among the runs as he scored 39 [2x4s, 2×6], while Vishal Singh chipped in with 22 [2x4s, 1×6]. Mohamed Wazidali was the pick of the bowlers with 3-33 in his four-over allocation. In response, the Vipers were skittled for a paltry 88 in 15.2 overs. Pramraj Persaud was the only batsman to offer resistance, as he recorded 24 [2x4s, 2x6s].
Krishna Singh was the primary threat with the ball, as he recorded figures of 3-11 in 3.2 overs, while Plant registered 2-16 and Ryan Seecharran tallied 2-24 in three overs, respectively.
Likewise, Windsor Forest Centre defeated Zeelugt by six wickets. Taking first strike, Zeelugt were dismissed for 110 in 17.1 overs, with Gansham Seedhan top scoring with 38 [3x4s, 2×6]. Natram Dam supported the batting effort with 30 [2x4s, 2x6s].
Rolex Payne and Chatram Nauth led the bowling effort with 2-18 and 2-19, respectively, while the experienced Lalta Suknanan was among the wickets with 2-22 in four overs. In reply, Windsor Forest successfully overhauled the target, finishing on 114/4 in 15.4 overs. Chetan Nauth top scored with 26 [2x4s, 2x6s], while Suknanan stroked an unbeaten 24 [2x4s]. Adding 18 [2x4s] was Kellon Tracy.
Meanwhile, hosts West Meten-Meer-Zorg thumped Goed Fortuin by seven wickets. Batting first, the visitors stumbled to 118/9 during their allotment. Fawaz Esau top scored with 27 runs, while Christopher Gurdyal was the next best scorer with 19 runs. Chipping in with 17 and 15 runs apiece were Sahaid Shakoor and Floyd Famey, respectively.
Jermaine Joseph was the pick of the bowlers with 2-19 in his three-over spell. In response, the West Meten-Meer-Zorg unit stormed to 119/2 in a mere 9.1 overs. Captain Jermaine Maxwell smashed 58 [7x4s, 3x6s], while Adrian Johnson supported with 22 runs.
Also, the West Coast Warriors defeated the West Demerara Legends by seven wickets. Batting first, West Demerara Legends amassed 145/6 during their allocation. Troy Benn smashed his way to 88 [7x4s, 7x6s], with Jitendra Kishour the next best batsman with 29 runs. Nicholas Lovell led the bowling effort with 3-16 in 2.4 overs.
The Warriors, in response, stormed to 149/3 in 14.4 overs. Ronald Scouten battered the opposition bowling lineup with an unbeaten 82 [6x4s, 7x6s], with Amos Carlos supporting with 36 [3x4s, 1×6]. Troy Benn was the pick of the bowlers with 2-30 in his four-over burst.
Equally, Leonora defeated the Royal Strikers by seven wickets. Batting first, the Royal Strikers stumbled to a108/9 in their allotment. Mahase Sookdeo top scored with 33 [4x6s], while Ravindra Dookie was the next best batsman with 27 [2x4s, 3x6s]. Chipping in with 17 runs was Parmanand Parbudyal.
Marlon Basdeo was the pick of the bowlers as he snared 4-13 during his four-over spell, while Shazim Ali supported with 3-13 in three overs. In response, Leonora stormed to 110/3 in 14.4 overs. Nicholas Gandalall with an unbeaten 50 [5x4s, 2x6s], with Deopersaud Lalta contributing 26 [1×4, 3x6s].
The event resumes on Sunday with another round of matches.
Over at the Zeelugt ground, Royal Strikers will oppose Region #3 Police at 9:30am, while Rising Stars will match skills with the Cold Fusion at 1:30pm.
At the Canal #2 venue, VNS will face off against Independence A at 9:30am, with the home side battling the La Grange All-Stars at 1:30pm.
Meanwhile, McGill Superstars and West Demerara Legends will lock horns at 9:30am at the Meten-Meer-Zorg ground, with the hosts opposing All Youths in the second encounter at 1:30pm.
