St. John the Baptist, Batavia win in Bartica Inter-Primary football

St. John the Baptist and Batavia recorded impressive victories when the inaugural edition of the Bartica Inter-Primary League continued on Wednesday at the Community Centre ground.

Unbeaten since the inception of the event, St. John the Baptist continued their impressive form as they thrashed Karrau Creek 5-0. Kristan Chandler led the rout with a hat-trick, while Kareem Welcome and Neymar Edwards recorded one goal apiece.

Similarly, Batavia dispatched Holy Name 3-0. The trio of Beron Goddett, O’Brian Pollard, and Randy Lyte netted one goal, respectively. In their second fixture, Batavia demolished Two Miles 4-0. The quartet of Kemron Wilson, Pollard, Goddett, and Lyte netted one goal apiece in the lopsided encounter.

Meanwhile, Potaro Strikers humbled Kartabo 4-0. Colton Telemaque bagged a double while Seth Beaton and Kenrick LaRose scored one goal, respectively. Likewise, St. Anthony’s brushed aside Falmouth 3-0 in their first encounter. Aden Charles recorded a double, while Travis Algre netted once.

However, St. Anthony lost their second fixture 1-3 to Holy Name. The trio of Ryan Wong, Jarrel Sumrah, and Vijay Sumrah tallied one goal, respectively. On target in the loss was Aden Charles.

Also, Karrau defeated Two Miles 1-0. Alvino DeCosta recorded the only goal of the contest.

On the other hand, Agatash downed Falmouth 3-0 as Justin Calvan, Vishal Charles, and Jake Calvan registered one conversion, respectively.

However, Agatash would go down to Iteballi, losing by a 1-2 score. Rudolph Francis and Jaden Jeffrey netted one goal apiece in the victory. For the loser, Jake Calvan netted.

The tournament continues at the same venue with another round of matches on Wednesday, October 2nd. According to an initial correspondence from the Department of Education, who are the coordinators of the championship, the event features 11 teams from the Bartica and Lower Mazaruni areas.
