(Trinidad Express) General Manager of Hyatt Regency Trinidad, Michael Hooper, says that a Facebook post regarding cashless payment options at the hotel was prematurely distributed and contained inaccurate information.
Hooper said that “at this time”, Hyatt Regency Trinidad will not be implementing any changes to its payment process.
He made the statement in an emailed response to inquiries from the Express.
Hooper’s full statement read:
“A message regarding cashless payment options at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad hotel was prematurely distributed with inaccurate information. At this time, we will not be implementing any changes to our payment process. We wish to apologise for any confusion or inconvenience caused.”
This clarification followed significant backlash from a post on the hotel’s Facebook page, which announced that, starting November 1, it would no longer accept T&T dollars for cash transactions.
According to that post, the hotel would only accept US dollars, British Pound Sterling, and Euro dollars.
Hyatt has since deleted the Facebook post.
