Policy Forum Guyana (PFG) will be hosting AgriSmart 2024, an online event designed to equip Guyanese farmers with the latest strategies and information on climatesmart agriculture, and provide essential knowledge to help them adapt and thrive in the face of climate change, a PFG release announced yesterday.
Policy Forum Guyana is a non-governmental organisation committed to advancing sustainable development, environmental education, and community empowerment. Through initiatives like AgriSmart 2024, it aims to foster a culture of resilience and sustainability in Guyana’s agricultural sector and beyond.
The event will take place via Zoom on October 9 from 13.00 hours to 15.00 hours, and will feature leading agricultural experts, policy advisors, and development specialists, who will share insights on sustainable practices, innovative farming solutions, and growth opportunities, within Guyana’s agricultural sector.
Featured speakers will be: Barbara Bennett – International Climate Hub, United States Department of Agriculture; Warren Barlow – Training Manager, National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute; and Jermaine Joseph – Country Director, Partners of America Farmer-to-Farmer Program.
Topics will include: a) the benefits of climate-smart agriculture for long-term sustainability; b) strategies to boost farm productivity while minimizing environmental impact; and c) best practices for incorporating innovative agricultural technologies.
