The Ministry of Labour (MoL) last week stated that the probe still continues into the “catastrophic” boiler explosion that injured three young men on March 14 at Hack Rice Mill, Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice, Region Five.
This is according to MoL Public Relations Officer, Neola Damon, who advised that there is yet no conclusion. “There is no conclusion as yet and the investigation is ongoing at the moment in the matter.”
Sukra Harrygobin, 25, of Bath Settlement whose ankle had been amputated, yesterday related to the Stabroek News that he not working at the moment because although he is feeling all right now, his foot will take a longer time to heal. Regarding compensation received for his condition, he said that he has not approached his boss yet for compensation, but will reach out at the appropriate time. He is just focusing on feeling better at the moment.
