The Global Super League (GSL) T20 Championship is set to launch in Guyana from November 26th-December 7th and will feature participation from five different nations.
This was disclosed at the final of the Caribbean Premier League between the Guyana Amazon Warriors and St. Lucia Kings last night at the National Stadium, Providence, which will serve as the venue for the entirety of the major championship.
The Guyana Amazon Warriors are pencilled to compete in the event, which has a prize pool of US$1,000,000. It will be the first event staged exclusively in South America that is sanctioned by Cricket West Indies.
The Government of Guyana is a major stakeholder in the impending competition that will consist of 11 matches. A type of Swiss format is expected to be utilised as each team will play four games, with the top two finishers advancing to the championship fixture.
It is expected to be an annual tournament, with different teams participating in each edition.
