The New Highway Producers Cooperative Society has elected a new Committee of Management following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, September 29, 2024.
A release from the Ministry of Labour said that the newly elected management team includes members such as Paula Nicholson, Leslyn Noble, Dwayne Williams, Ray Ferrier, Col. Azeez Nizamoodeen, Audrey Kellman, Dr. Meer Khan, Pedro Lewis and Kellon Ferrier.
The release said that this marks a significant development for the Cooperative as it signals the conclusion of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) that had been in place since 2021 and renewed in 2023. The IMC was initially appointed to restore transparency and accountability within the organization.
The IMC was set up under the authority of the Cooperative Society Act, Chapter 88:01, which permits the Chief Co-operative Development Officer (CCDO) to take over any cooperative, friendly society or credit union, which in the CCDO’s opinion, is being mismanaged or is non-transparent.
