(Trinidad Guardian) The United States Ambassadors to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Guyana, and Suriname will visit Trinidad and Tobago from October 8-12, 2024.
According to a statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Port of Spain, the visit is part of “an ongoing regional dialogue to raise the profile of the United States’ bilateral cooperation with Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Guyana, and Suriname; and to strengthen regional diplomatic ties and cooperation between the close partners and neighbours.”
Roger Nyhus is the U.S. Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean; Nicole Theriot is U.S. Ambassador to Guyana; and Robert Faucher is U.S. Ambassador to Suriname.
“This is the second time we are meeting as a group—we previously convened in Suriname,” said U.S. Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago Candace Bond, as she welcomed her ambassadorial colleagues.
“Taking the time to meet in person allows us to work collaboratively on regional issues like citizen security, sustainable energy, and development finance, and to learn from each other’s best practices,” she noted. “Plus, I am eager for my colleagues to experience firsthand what I have been blessed to experience—the unmatched warmth of the Trinbagonian people and the extraordinary beauty of this country.”
The release from the Embassy said the Ambassadors will meet with local partners and stakeholders in government, security, energy, public health, and business for discussions on citizen security and security cooperation, strengthening shared democratic values, and mutual prosperity and sustainability.
