A few months ago via a letter to Stabroek News, I appealed for the installation of hand rails at the Vreed-en-Hoop taxi service stelling. So far, to the best of my knowledge, nothing has been done. No problems to me.
A few days ago, I was on the public road with a sick person awaiting transportation to the city. Since rails did not exist at the taxi service port, I cancelled the trip since land transportation was not available after a long wait and at my age I could not descend the steps to board the water taxi. No problems.
After all I am not an “Architect of Guyana”. I am just a nobody and my letter will not invite attention from anybody. I hope the grace of God be with the elderly, like myself, who use the Vreed-en-Hoop taxi service stelling in relation to their safety.
