With only two days remaining before their pivotal League A clash with Guatemala, the Golden Jaguars senior men’s programme has intensified training at the National Training Centre in Providence, following the arrival of the overseas-based delegation.

The majority of the remaining members of the squad arrived today, as Guyana expects to increase preparation for the contest. A notable name that makes a return injury is Laim Gordon, who missed the previous two fixtures. Guyana will oppose the Guatemalans on Friday at the National Track and Field Centre in Leonora and are desperate for the victory, following a record of one win and a loss.

Guyana, who is currently ranked 156th, commenced their League A debut campaign in the CONCACAF Nations League with a 1-3 home loss to arch-rival Suriname on September 5th. They then drew 2-2 away to Martinique four days later.

The Guyanese will conclude their campaign with the return leg against Suriname on October 15th. The top two finishers from the group, which also comprises Costa Rica and Guadeloupe, will advance to the quarterfinal section in November.

The team is expected to be finalised shortly.
