Hetmyer, Motie, Shepherd headline Berbice’s 38-member provisional squad

The West Indian trio of Shimron Hetmyer, Gudakesh Motie, and Romario Shepherd headline the 38-member provisional squad released by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) that will be reduced ahead of the start of the Guyana Cricket Board Inter-County Super-50 Championship on Sunday.

This was disclosed by the BCB via an official release on their Facebook page. According to the correspondence, trial matches will be utilised to determine the final roster.

The trio, along with Kevin Sinclair, is expected to form the backbone of the Berbice team. The other shortlisted players, several of whom are currently members of the Guyana senior setup, are Isai Thorne, Shamar Joseph, Jonathan Foo, Kevlon Anderson, Junior Sinclair, Veerasammy Permaul, Nial Smith, Clinton Pestano, Rampertab Ramnauth, Tomani Ceasar, Demetri Cameron, Keon Sinclair, Shamal Angel, Kwesi Mickle, Seon Glasgow, Nigel Deodat, Adrian Sukwah, Suresh Dhanai, Javed Karim, Sylus Tyndall, Gaurav Ramesh, Zeynul Ramsammy, Jonathan Rampersaud, Leon Swammy, Keith Simpson, Abdur Ramsammy, Dharmesh Seenarine, Raymond Vankenic, Jomal Lafleur, Kelvin Omroa, Davendra Latchman, Rajiv Ivan, Kareem Mentore, and Rampersaud Ramnauth.

The tournament forms part of the GCB’s preparation for the impending Regional Super-50 Championship, which will be staged in Trinidad and Tobago from October 29th. Matches will primarily be staged in Demerara, with one fixture pencilled for Essequibo.

The championship match of the tournament will be staged on October 19th, with the Guyana squad slated to enter encampment from October 21st–25th.

The provisional squads of Demerara and Essequibo are expected to be released shortly.
