Potaro, Dog Point advance in ‘Rats’ Memorial Football 

Potaro and Dog Point recorded contrasting wins when the ‘Rats’ Memorial Football Championship continued at the Bartica Community Centre ground. 

 Potaro Strikers caged Wolves 8-0. The rout was commenced in the 22nd minute via a Cobi Jones strike. The second version of the contest occurred off the boot of Spencer in the 30th minute. The score remained unchanged heading into the halftime interval.

 Upon the resumption, six goals were recorded in the space of 12 minutes. Arlington Williams opened the scoring as he etched his name on the score-sheet.

 Williams then got into the scoring act once more as he completed his double in the 60th.

 Spencer then got into the scoring act once more to compete his double as the score ballooned to 5-0 in the 61st minute.

 Williams then competed his hat-trick one minute later as Potaro stormed to a commanding 6-0 advantage. A helmet trick was then realised for Williams, who slotted home in the 65th minute.

 Joel Murray then competed the scoreline as he made his presence felt in the 70th minute.

 Meanwhile, Dog Point defeated Galaxy 5-4 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended 1-1. Prior to the aforesaid conclusion, Ashburk Hohenkirk handed Galaxy the initial lead as he found the back of the net in the 31st minute.

 However, Massiah Joseph restored parity to proceedings as he found the back of the net in the 65th minute.

 Also, the Beacons unit defeated Lazio via walkover after the latter failed to take the playing area at the scheduled playing time. The event continues today at the same venue with another round of matches.
