A 23-year-old mason was stabbed to death at Sand Road in Kuru Kururu Village, Soesdyke- Linden Highway on September 30 at about 2.30 am..
Dead is Eton Calistro of Swan/ Kuru Kururu Squatting area.
In a statement, the police said that investigations revealed that Calistro and family attended the Kuru Kururu Heritage Day which was hosted at the Kuru Kururu Community Centre Ground. At the event, the family consumed alcoholic beverages and participated in the heritage activities. At about 2.20 am, Calistro went to call his cousin who lives in the Swan squatting area and was with a group of males partying. Calistro, the police said, told his cousin it was time to go home, and she refused.
After Calistro insisted that they go home right away, the suspects from the group confronted him and a scuffle ensued between them. During the scuffle, one of the males from the group dealt Calistro a stab to the left side of his chest, and he ran and collapsed.
He was picked up by his brother and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where he was pronounced dead. The area was checked, but no CCTV cameras were seen.
The police have thus far processed the area, and what appears to be blood was seen on the track where the incident occurred. Samples were taken and the investigation continues.
