Nandram Deonarine, a 34-year-old labourer of Lot 326 Richmond Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast was arrested by a rank from the Suddie Police Station on Thursday and charged yesterday with the offence of Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking.
Deonarine was arrested for the possession of 15.3 grammes of cocaine, a release from the police said.
The defendant appeared at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Tameika Clarke where the charge was read to him. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years, six months imprisonment and, in addition, fined $30,000.
