GH Renovations T20 Cricket
McGill Superstars, VNS, and Canal #2 recorded comfortable victories when the West Demerara Cricket Association sanctioned GH Renovations T20 Championship continued.
McGill Superstars thumped West Demerara Legends by 114 runs in a reduced 10-over contest. Batting first, the McGill Superstars amassed an imposing 172/0. Former national batsman Ricardo Adams recorded a mammoth 125 [15x6s, 5x4s], while Travis Persaud chipped in with 36 [3x6s, 3x4s]. In response, the West Demerara Legends stumbled to 58/9 at the end of their allocation.
Hemendra Kowlessar top scored with 17 [3x4s]. Navindra Persaud was the pick of the bowlers with 3-12, while Arshad Azim recorded 2-14.
Likewise, Canal #2 thrashed La Grange by 124 runs. Batting first, Canal #2 tallied an imposing 199/6 in their 20 over allotment. Narendra Persaud top scored with 58, while Shazam Ramjohn was the next best scorer with 42. Adding 21 and 15 runs respectively were Navindra Ragnauth and Duane Graham.
In response, La Grange were skittled for 75 in 16.3 overs. Gansham Singh, Dinesh Persaud, and Saif Persaud tallied 14. 13, and 12 runs, respectively. Malcolm Martin was the primary threat with the ball with 5-7 in his four-over spell, while Parmanand Ragnauth tallied 2-15.
Similarly, VNS defeated Independence CC by seven wickets. Batting first, the Independence unit was dismissed for 66 in 11.2 overs. Sagar Hathiramani and Quazim Yusuf recorded 17 and 15 runs, respectively. Bernard Lewis led the VNS bowling effort with 3-5 in two overs, while Mohan Chaitram tallied 3-12, Rajiv Kadarnauth snared 2-10, and Kenard Lewis tallied 2-17.
VNS then stormed to 70/3 in 7.4 overs. Lewis led the batting effort with 45 [7x6s, 1×4]. The event continues today across several venues. At the Zeelugt ground, Region #3 Police will oppose Royal Strikers at 9:30am, while Leonora will battle La Grange at 1:30pm.
Over at the Canal #2 venue, McGill Superstars will engage Vipers at 9:30am, with the home side opposing New Wales at 1:30pm.
Meanwhile, at the Meten-Meer-Zorg facility, Cornelia Ida will battle West Demerara Legends at 9:30am, and the hosts will lock horns with Independence A at 1:30pm.
At the Belle Vue venue, VNS will match skills with Goed Fortuin at 9:30am, and the home side will face-off against the West Coast Warriors at 1:30pm.
