Prime Minister’s T20 Cup

– Jai Hind, Ariel Masters, Supreme Stars also win

Speedboat defeated Ariel Knight Riders by 46 runs to win the open category when the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc.’s (GSCL) Prime Minister’s T20 Cup culminated yesterday at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.

Jai Hind overcame Regal Legends by five wickets in the Over-50 final, while Ariel Masters beat Fisherman by 15 runs to win the Over-40 category, and Supreme Stars of Linden won the female crown with a 26-run victory over No. 64 Knight Riders.

Played in front of a fair-sized crowd, Speedboat took first strike and posted a challenging 226-6. Safraz Esau struck 79, while Navin Singh made 35, Kishore Smith 32, and A Yusuf 30.

Ariel Masters claimed the Over-40 title.

A. Sinclair took two wickets. Ariel Knight Riders responded with 180-9. Travis Drakes and Shaz Grovesnor made 33 each, while V. Phillips got 24. Wazeer Hussain bagged 5-31.

Meanwhile, Regal Legends batted first in the Over-50 final and scored 163-9. Rudolph Baker led with 40 not out, Mahendra Hardyal made 32, Wayne Jones scored 21 and Surajdeo Ramdeen 19. Vejai Seenarine claimed 3-42; Hasan Ali and Azeem Khaderoo had two each.

Jai Hind in response, end on 166-5. Lloyd Ruplall slammed 67 while Seenarine and Richard Kellawan scored 39 and 32 runs, respectively. David Harper took 2-44.

Ariel Masters took the first knock in the Over-40 final and managed 197-6. Chien Gittens scored 49, Richard Latif 40, and A. Ali 24; Dhaniram Lallaram captured three wickets and Anthony Arjune two.

Speedboat sailed to the open championship

Fisherman Masters replied with 182 all out in 19.2 overs. Zaki Salim made 46, Keith Fraser 35, Lallaram 22 and Zameer Hassan 19. Ameer Nizamudeen and Gittens had three wickets apiece and Latif two.

In the female final, Supreme Stars scored 123-8 off their allotted 15 overs, taking the first strike. Marissa Rodney scored 18, Melisa Daniels 17 and Tamara Fredericks 17 not out. Tina Ganie had 3-15

No. 64 Knight Riders responded with 97 all out in 15 overs. Renita Ramdeo scored 19 while Leanna Collins tallied 17. Daniels took 3-20 and A. Stellingburg 2-9.
