Mining security guard dies after pinned by ATV

Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred yesterday at approximately 17:25 hrs on Sand Hill Trail in the Cuyuni-Mazaruni region. The accident involved an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) driven by Marlon Davison, 37, a security guard employed by Hopkinson Mining Security Firm and a resident of Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara.

According to a police press release, enquiries revealed that Davison was proceeding east along the road at a high speed when he lost control of the ATV. The vehicle turned turtle, pinning Davison against the trail surface and resulting in severe injuries.

He was picked up by public-spirited persons in an unconscious condition and transported to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said..
