Motorcyclist dies after crashing into median at Eccles

A 30-year-old man of Lot 91 ‘A’ Field Sophia died after he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a median on Eccles Public Road, East Bank Demerara, while the woman who was his pillion rider has been hospitalized in a critical condition.

According to a police press release, the accident occurred yesterday at Eccles and resulted in the death of a 30-year-old Dillon Abrams.

The police said Abrams and his pillion rider were proceeding south along the eastern carriageway when he lost control of the motorcycle and collided with the concrete median that separates the eastern and western carriageways. They both fell off the  motorcycle sustaining injuries about their bodies.

The release said Emergency Medical Technicians pronounced Abrams dead at the scene, while the unidentified woman was picked up in an unconscious state and conveyed to the Georgetown Public Hospital. She is being treated for a punctured lung, fractured right leg and head injuries. Her condition is regarded as critical, the release said.
