Leguan Island now boasts its own crematorium and according to President Irfaan Ali, who presided over the commissioning ceremony on Friday, it is a sanctuary where families can grieve the loss of their loved ones and begin the process of healing, a Department of Public Information (DPI) release stated.
The crematorium which has been named Kaashi Dhaam, which means heavenly abode, is the second facility of its kind. It caters to the needs of the community by providing a dignified, courteous, and comfortable space where loved ones can offer their final respects to the deceased, the release said.
It added that during his remarks President Ali said, “Where life ends symbolically, is also where healing begins.
