Dear Editor
I signed up for NIS’ bank deposit in June and submitted all the required paperwork. I was informed that the process would take six weeks. In September, I used the online chat to query whether my payment had been processed and sent to the bank. I was told it had been done. However, when I checked with the bank, no deposit had been made. I queried again and was then told that a payment would be deposited on September 23. After that date, I checked with the bank, but once again, no deposit had been made. I went back and forth with the online chat agent, and after further investigation, it was discovered that no deposit had been made. I was subsequently informed that a deposit would be made in October for the period of July to September.
Today, October 15, I checked again, and I was told that a deposit was made for the period April to June. Here is an excerpt from the chat: “The period 01-APR-2024 to 30-JUN-2024 has already been deposited.” I again checked with the bank and no deposit was made. I am frustrated to discover that the NIS system shows a deposit was made when, in fact, none was. I want to stress that every time I query this issue, I initially receive the same response, but after further checking, it turns out to be incorrect. I do not fault the chat agents, but the system itself is clearly flawed.
Direct deposits usually take one day to complete. While I accepted NIS’s initial six-week timeline, it has now been 14 weeks and counting, with no resolution.
All my issues with NIS seem to end up being escalated to SN. I also emailed the PRO and cc’d the GM on this matter on September 26 with the subject “NIS – Why No Deposit after 3 Months,” but I have yet to receive a response or even an acknowledgment.
Sincerely
