Police early yesterday morning found a pistol with matching ammunition in a grey wagon parked on Norton Street and efforts are not being made to contact the owner of the vehicle based on the documentation found inside.
According to a release from the police at around 2:30 am yesterday ranks on patrol duty were in the vicinity of Norton Street and Mandela Avenue at a known “drugs block”, when they saw a group of men acting in a suspicious manner.
The release said that the ranks stopped the patrol vehicle, and the men started to walk off in different directions. It was then the grey wagon car bearing registration PAG 3160 was observed. The vehicle was locked and individuals were questioned as to the ownership of the car but no one claimed it, the release said.
