Jetty Gunners captured the ‘Rep Ya Turf’ Inter-Block Football Championship, defeating Showtime A on sudden death penalty kicks in the final at the West Demerara Secondary School ground.
A penalty shootout was required to decide the outcome after regulation time failed to separate the teams at 3-3. Jetty Gunners then prevailed 7-6 on sudden death penalty kicks to walk away with the title.
Due to the result, Jetty Gunners pocketed $200,000 and the championship trophy, while the loser received $100,000 and the corresponding award.
In the third-place playoff, Showtime B squeaked past Samaroo Dam 1-0 to walk away with $70,000 and the corresponding trophy. On the other hand, the loser received $30,000 and a trophy.
In the earlier semifinal round, Jetty Gunners riddled Showtime B 4-1, while Showtime A dismantled Samaroo Dam by the identical score.
