GCB Inter-County Super 50

After three round-robin matches, the top two teams from that phase of the Guyana Super50 Inter-County competition will face each other today in the final slated for the iconic GCC, Bourda Ground in Georgetown.

Demerara will be looking to make it back-to-back title wins and will face familiar foe Essequibo when the match bowls off at 9:00am. Demerara defeated Essequibo in the earlier group stage encounter. Ahead of today’s final, yesterday, the captains of the two counties met for a photo opportunity with the trophy at the venue.

While they had vastly contrasting paths to the title, both expressed similar thoughts about confidence and being able to play cricket on the day with the trophy up for grabs.

Demerara have been dominant and unbeaten through the round-robin stage, while Essequibo’s win over Berbice handed them their ticket to the final. Essequibo had to rely on a superior Net Run Rate (NRR) over Berbice and the GCB Select XI after they all ended on one win and two losses each.
