Omeca Primo, a 36-year-old Georgetown businesswoman, was remanded to prison after she appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday, charged with 13 counts of obtaining by false pretence.
She was not required to enter a plea.
According to the facts of the case, Primo, who owns Primo’s Import and Primo’s Taxi Service, fraudulently obtained a total of $11.3 million from 13 individuals by falsely claiming that she owned and could sell motor vehicles.
In addition to the current charges, the court was told that the police are continuing investigations into statements from 42 other people and additional charges are expected.
The case has been adjourned until November 8, 2024, for further reporting.
