Three traffic offences cost Bartica man $235,000

Carlson Babb, a 32-year-old resident of West Indian Housing Scheme, Bartica, was fined a total of $235,000 when he appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed in the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on Friday charged with multiple traffic offences.

Babb pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and was fined $200,000, with the alternative of serving three months in prison.

Additionally, Babb was charged with driving an uninsured motor vehicle, He pleaded guilty and was fined $25,000.

The third charge was for operating an unlicensed motor vehicle, for which he was fined $10,000 after pleading guilty.
