Guyanese Arian Dahlia Richmond has secured the prestigious title of Miss Global International 2024 at a pageant held at the Hotel Indigo in the Cayman Islands on October 13, besting 18 contestants from around the world.

According to a press release from the franchise, from her arrival in the Cayman Islands, Richmond exuded confidence and poise, dominating every aspect of the competition. Her accolades were many and impressive; she not only captured the main title but also won Best Interview, Best National Costume (by renowned Guyanese designer Roberto Teekah), Best Evening Gown (by Guyanese designer, Quinton Pearson of House of Pearson), Best Talent, People’s Choice Award, Best Smile, and Miss Community Service.

Richmond’s advocacy for youth development shone brightly during the final question of the competition, the release said. When asked, ‘What aspect of the pageant did you prepare the most for?’ The release said she revealed that her strongest preparation was for the interview segment, explaining: “We are powerhouses with a mission to invoke societal change and in an interview, you get to peer into the depths of my soul and understand why I stand so proud representing not only Guyana but every person that stands behind me. We have dreams and passions… I stand here representing the youth of Guyana as we move forward with this crown, and with God’s will, the crown represents what we need most – a young woman with a passion to create positive change ” Her calm demeanor and heartfelt words resonated deeply with both the audience and judges alike, earning her thunderous applause, it added.

Selena Grant from Turks & Caicos claimed the first runner-up position, while Caitlin Tyson from the Cayman Islands took home second runner-up.

Guyana’s legacy in the Miss Global International Pageant is a testament to its excellence. In 2017, Cynthia Dookie brought home the international title from Jamaica under previous franchise holders Hashim Alli and Melicia Partab-Alli. The following year saw Poonam Singh earn first runner-up and win Best Talent.  The momentum continued in 2023 when Lateefah Ford secured a top five finish while winning both the Best Interview and Body Beautiful awards under the new leadership of award-winning makeup artist Reneé Chester. Chester’s vision has reinvigorated Guyana’s representation on the global stage. Chester herself was awarded Best Director that same year.

Reflecting on Richmond’s win, the release said, Chester expressed immense pride and optimism in Guyana’s future success on the global stage. It added that Chester’s passion and commitment to making a difference in pageantry has clearly paid off, as Guyana’s reputation in international competitions continues to grow stronger.
