Between January 1, 2024, and October 13, 2024, 36 motorcyclists lost their lives on our roads, a 20% decrease compared to 45 fatalities during the same period in 2023.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said that while this reduction is a positive step, motorcyclists still make up 39% of all road fatalities.
“Wearing a helmet isn’t just the law—it’s the right thing to do! Helmets significantly reduce the risk of head injury, the leading cause of death in motorcycle accidents”, it said in a release.
