As part of its commitment to ensuring that residents across Guyana benefit from clean, safe and potable water, the national water utility, Guyana Water Inc, announced in a release yesterday that it has embarked on an initiative to increase the treated water coverage to 90% by 2025.

It explained that its Coastal Water Treatment Infrastructure Programme (CWTIP) will see the construction of seven new large water treatment plants, fifteen small plants, the upgrading of 12 existing plants, and the installation of 200 kilometres of transmission mains to improve water quality, continuity of service, and level of service, in regions Two, Three, Four, Five, and Six.
