TOTALTEC Inc, a fully Guyanese-owned company, has unveiled an innovative multi-sector e-learning platform that will provide access to internationally recognised training programs to empower locals with sought-after skills in key industries.
The freshly launched platform offers an array of comprehensive courses tailored to meet the evolving needs of Guyana’s fast-growing economy, covering sectors such as: hospitality – enhancing customer service, food and beverage management, and front office expertise; construction – mastering essential trades like carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electrical work, with a strong emphasis on safety; oil & gas – developing proficiency in drilling, production, maintenance, and health and safety in alignment with international standards; industrial – building competence in manufacturing processes, quality control, and industrial safety protocols; and operations & maintenance – acquiring skills in equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of TOTALTEC Inc, Lars Mangal, “TOTALTEC is fully committed to the ‘One Guyana’ vision. Our e-learning platform serves as a potent tool to upskill all Guyanese, irrespective of their location, and to create pathways towards enhanced employment prospects.”
The company will be collaborating with several international training institutions to develop a platform with features such as: flexible learning – this enables access at any time and from any location, allowing learners to progress at their own pace; interactive content – modules will incorporate videos, simulations, and assessments to reinforce learning; industry-relevant skills – a focus on practical skills and knowledge directly applicable in the workplace; and affordable access – cost-effective solutions to make upskilling accessible to a broader audience.
In addition to the e-learning platform, TOTALTEC Training also delivers practical vocational training at its state-of-the-art 80,000-square foot facility adjacent to the Guyana Shore Base Inc in Houston, Georgetown. This purpose-built facility has already trained over 4,000 Guyanese individuals to international standards in programs covering Foundational Safety – essential safety practices applicable across all sectors; Specialized Lifting Operations – safe operation of cranes, forklifts, and other lifting equipment; and Plant Inspections and Operations – inspection and maintenance of industrial equipment.
Further, TOTALTEC stands as the sole accredited centre in Guyana for both NPORS [UK National Plant Operators Registration Scheme] and LEEA [UK Lifting Equipment Engineers Association]. Its Banksman & Slinger program is also accredited by LEEA, underscoring its dedication to delivering top-tier training.
