Three women were among 22 residents from central Mahdia, Region Eight who were recently certified as heavy-duty equipment operators and electrical technicians following training conducted by the Board of Industrial Training (BIT).

A release from BIT said a graduation ceremony was recently held for the newly trained operators in the Regional Democratic Council (RDC), Region Eight, boardroom.

According to the release, the training programmes were made possible through a collaboration between BIT and the RDC and the initiative highlights the government’s commitment to equipping citizens with valuable skills, addressing the country’s labour shortages, and enhancing employability.

Regional Executive Officer for Region Eight Peter Ramouthar, alongside BIT Technical Officers Jason Clarke and Earl Pestano, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Adanna Edwards, and other officials, attended the ceremony, it added.

The officials shared words of encouragement, noting that the graduates’ achievements will contribute not only to their personal success but also to the development of their community and the region at large, the release said.
