Police yesterday said two men were arrested with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition during an intelligence-led operation at about 10:30 am in the vicinity of the Timehri bus park, Georgetown.
According to a statement, police stopped a black Nissan Juke vehicle bearing registration number PZZ 4712 and searched the vehicle, its driver and passenger.
The vehicle was being driven by Jerry Anderson, who was in the company of Raphael Watts, a 37-year-old gold miner of Zeelught Housing Scheme.
The police said that the search led to the discovery of a 9 mm pistol along with one magazine and ten 9 mm rounds of ammunition. Amderson and Watts were taken to the Brickdam Police Station, where they are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
