Da Silva replaces Bravo as Red Force captain for Super 50

Joshua Da Silva

(CMC) – West Indies’ wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva will lead the Trinidad & Tobago Red Force in the upcoming CG United CWI Regional Super 50 tournament, which bowls off here next week.

Da Silva takes over from Darren Bravo, who has not been named in the 15-man squad that will take on the Combined Campuses and Colleges next Tuesday in their opening fixture.

The 26-year-old Da Silva will captain the side that features six changes from the team that won the 2023 title.

However, the Red Force will be without the services of the experienced Nicholas Pooran, Akeal Hosein, Evin Lewis, and Jayden Seales because of West Indies duty.

Meanwhile, Tobago all-rounder Joshua James has been given his first call-up to the senior national side.

The 23-year-old James has a batting average of 27 in seven List A matches with West Indies Academy.

Also making a return to the team is Isaiah Rajah, the son of former national player Aneil Rajah.

The 31-year-old played his last List A match in November 2019 against a West Indies Emerging team that was led by teammate Yannic Cariah with Joshua Da Silva as wicketkeeper.

Rajah was rewarded for his fruitful 2024 season, where he accumulated 1122 runs in all competitions at an average of 59 with three hundreds.

Trinidad and Tobago Red Force Squad: Joshua Da Silva (captain), Khary Pierre (vice-captain), Amir Jangoo, Jason Mohammed, Jyd Goolie, Tion Webster, Bryan Charles, Kjorn Ottley, Isaiah Rajah, Terrance Hinds, Anderson Phillip, Yannic Cariah, Mark Deyal, and Joshua James.
