Mahaica Determinators climbed atop the standings in the East Coast Demerara Senior Men’s League, handing hosts Buxton Stars their first defeat of the event with a 3-0 victory at the community centre ground.
Samuel Sam broke the deadlock as he found the back of the net in the 29th. This proved to be the only conversion of the first half. Sam would make his presence felt once more as he completed his brace in the 78th minute.
The result was then sealed in the 81st minute via a Julius Hamilton conversion. With the result, Mahaica moves onto 17 points and secures the top spot, while Buxton Stars remain on 15 points and drop into second position.
Meanwhile, Golden Stars defeated Beterverwagting (BV)/Triumph via walkover after the latter failed to take the playing area at the scheduled time. The Golden Stars outfit was awarded a 3-0 outcome and the three points.
Due to the outcome, the Golden Stars unit moves onto 11 points and climbs into fourth place, while BV/Triumph remains on three points but drops to seventh place due to their inferior goal differential.
