After six years, 19 rice millers received the $1.5 billion owed by the Panamanian Government, according to statement today from the Department of Public Information (DPI).

The money was due after 9,000 tonnes of rice was delivered to Panama in 2018, and the millers were never paid.

The cheques were presented by Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha at the ministry’s office on Regent Road today.
