Rosignol disqualified from Courts Pee Wee Football

– St Pius to continue title defence in semi-final

After knocking out the defending champions St. Pius on Saturday last at the Ministry of Education ground on Carifesta Avenue, Rosignol Primary were found guilty of breaching the rules of the Courts Optical Pee Wee Boy’s U-11 Football Championship and have subsequently been disqualified.

According to a statement from Petra, the West Coast Berbice institution fielded ‘ineligible players’ in the quarter-final fixture against St. Pius. This was subsequently discovered during an investigation into the composition of the team.

The statement read, “Petra Organisation wishes to advise that there will be a change to the semifinal fixtures for the Courts Optical Under-11 Pee-Wee Schools’ football tournament, which will take place this Saturday, October 26 at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Ground, Carifesta Avenue, Georgetown. Semifinal two, which was slated to see Marian Academy going up against Rosignol Primary, will now feature, still, defending champions St. Pius Primary against Marian Academy. This is as a result of Rosignol Primary fielding ineligible players in last week’s quarterfinal.”

However, the fixture for the semifinal one remains the same, with Santa Rosa facing Belladrum. That semi-final starts at 16:00hrs on Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue. Immediately after, St. Pius returns to face Marian Academy in semi-final two at 17:00hrs.
