Police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old motorcyclist while he was suspected to be speeding along Mandela Avenue in the vicinity of Pineapple Street, East Ruimveldt.
Dead is Tevin Griffith, a mechanic of Lot 3420 Stevedore Housing Scheme, Georgetown. Preliminary investigations revealed that a group of motorcycles were proceeding west along Mandela Avenue on Tuesday at about 20.45 hours, at a fast rate. None of the riders was wearing a safety helmet.
Griffith, who was part of the group, was lying flat on his motorcycle and proceeding in the same direction at a fast rate when he lost control and collided with the guardrail. As a result, the motorcyclist was flung on the roadway sustaining multiple injuries in the process. He was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency responders.
