-UN Resident Coordinator on occasion of United Nations Day
On the occasion of United Nations Day yesterday, new UN Resident Coordinator for Guyana, Jean Kamau has underscored the importance of cooperation to combat pressing issues like climate change.
In a message to mark the formation of the United Nations 79 years ago, Kamau said: “In a time when we face pressing issues like climate change, the rise of digital technology, and the impact of artificial intelligence, the United Nations remains steadfast in its mission, with human rights at the heart of everything we do”.
She said that the commitments made all those years ago still resonate today and pointed out that just last month at the UN General Assembly, Member States came together to adopt the Pact for the Future, the Global Digital Compact and the Declaration on Future Generations.
