Police ranks get training on use of body cameras

As part of its ongoing efforts to improve operational, investigative and transparency in policing in the Guyana Police Force (GPF), a Body-Cam training session was held recently at the Bartica Police Station’s Zara Training Centre to acquaint ranks with the functional aspects of the new body cameras, a GPF release stated.

The training session which involved the operation, use, and maintenance, of a set of newly acquired body cameras, was conducted by Constable Bristol of the Force’s Information Technology (IT) Department, and according to the release, participants received thorough training on operating the cameras and were given a detailed rundown of their features, which included the capturing of digital, audio, and video evidence.

According to the GPF, the body cameras will be decentralised across the region to be used in operation, investigation, and on patrols.

Those attending the training session included Commander of Regional Police Division #7, Senior Superintendent Dion Moore; Deputy Commander of Region Division #7, Assistant Superintendent D.Handy; Community Relations Officer, Inspector C.Bacchus; and Traffic Officer l, Assistant Superintendent Chaitram.
