Dear Editor,
The letter writer has lamented the assault meted out to a senior citizen and the perception that young offenders are immune from the law (SN October 27). Recently the AG set the record straight that juveniles can be charged, prosecuted for criminal acts (KN October 25). So the victim and writer can take comfort in knowing that.
The establishment, it could be viewed, was complicit in this dastardly act against a patron to its establishment by allowing the students to loiter. The letter does not state what action the establishment took against the perpetrator or assistance rendered to the victim.
Delinquents should not be encouraged to be loitering in establishments to the detriment of law abiding citizens. The writer should not dismiss the GPF. It is still the agency for law infractions and breaches.
Sincerely,
Shamshun Mohamed
