-Hiralal named as replacement
The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) yesterday announced the appointment of Surendra Hiralal as chairman of the senior selection panel in the wake of Peter Persaud’s resignation.
According to a statement from the DCB, “The Board has accepted Peter’s resignation and wishes him well in his future endeavours.”
The correspondence did not state the reasons for his resignation.
Hiralal is well known in the cricketing circles of Guyana after having played and served in many capacities in the discipline for decades. He is a former club captain of Everest Cricket Club for six years as well as the entity’s first division skipper for 12 years. He won both the three-day and limited-overs competition for ECC as well.
He is also the current manager of inter-county champions Demerara senior men’s super 50 team and manager of the Berbice Caimans franchise in the ongoing National T20 League, which began on Saturday.
