Yesterday morning, the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) celebrated the graduation of the 17th and 18th batch of Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) and Cardiovascular Technicians at the National Culture Centre.
A release from the GPHC said that in total, 91 PCAs and 10 Cardiovascular Technicians including two Stress Test Technicians and eight Echocardiography Technicians, completed six months of rigorous training to prepare for their roles within the healthcare system.
Following their graduation, the new PCAs will be assigned to various departments within GPHC, where they will help enhance patient care services. Some of the Cardiovascular Technicians will also join GPHC’s team, while others will be deployed to different public health facilities across the country, extending their support to healthcare delivery nationwide.
The ceremony featured remarks from key officials, including Dr. Vishwa Mahadeo, Director General of the Ministry of Health; Robbie Rambarran, CEO of GPHC; and Leslyn Holder, Nursing Director. In his address, Rambarran congratulated the graduates and reminded them of the crucial role they play as some of the first points of contact for patients. He encouraged them to approach their duties with empathy and compassion, urging them to put themselves in the shoes of their patients and provide care as they would wish to receive it.
