Temporary change in Kurupukari River crossing hours

The Department of Public Information (DPI) has issued a public advisory informing of a temporary change in the Kurupukari River crossing timetable.

According to DPI, in the interest of public safety and to ensure safe and reliable travel, Mekdeci Mining Company (MMC), the operators of the crossing, have begun annual dredging operations in the Kurupukari river channel starting yesterday. It explained that this essential work is necessary to maintain navigability during the low-water season.

As such the DPI informed that according to the temporary crossing hours, the last crossing will be at 5:00 pm each day (instead of 6:00 pm) for the duration of the dredging which should last for one week. Normal services are expected to resume by November 5.
