GH Renovations T20 Cricket
Canal #2 and McGill Superstars recorded comfortable victories when the West Demerara Cricket Association sanctioned GH Renovations T20 Championship continued.
Canal #2 thrashed Leonora by 194 runs. Batting first, Canal #2 amassed a mammoth 247/2 in their allotment. Opener Narendra Persaud smashed an unbeaten 143, while Chabiraj Ramcharran chipped in with an undefeated 37. Leonora, in response, stumbled to 53/9 at the expiration of their overs. Pramraj Ragnauth led the bowling effort with figures of 2-9.
Similarly, McGill Superstars defeated Windsor Forest Vipers by seven wickets in a reduced 15-over contest. Batting first, the Vipers tallied a score of 99/4. Parmanan Dhani led the batting effort with 51 [5x4s, 3x6s], with Abdullah Wazidali the next best batsman with 15 runs. In response, the Superstars stormed to 101/3 in 9.2 overs.
Ricardo Adams produced another dominant performance with a belligerent 50 [4x4s, 5x6s]. Ganesh Puran supported the chase with an unbeaten 27.
The quarterfinal round of the event is pencilled for Sunday. Meanwhile, the WDCA also staged its official draw for the impending President Cup 50-Over Championship. The competition, which will utilise a group stage format, will feature two segments in the form of divisions one and two.
Group A of division one contains the West Coast Warriors, Sawpit Canal #2 Sports Club, and Belle Vue Sports Club, while group B is made up of the McGill Superstars, Cornelia Ida, Meten-Meer-Zorg, and Windsor Forest Centre Team.
Meanwhile, group A of division two comprises All-Youths, Goed Fortuin, La Grange, Leonora, New Wales, Uitvlugt, and West Demerara Legends. Group B consists of Zeelugt, VNS, Independence Sports Club, Windsor Forest Vipers, and Rising Stars.
